16 Hour On The Job Training

In order to become a New York State-approved security guard, you must first undergo the required security guard training. NYS requires that the 16 hour security guard training course must be completed within 90 days of employment as a Security Guard.

This 16 hour security class provides the student with all of the necessary information about the duties and responsibilities of a Security Guard. Guardian Group services has been approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to teach this course and all security courses online.

This course provides security guards in New York State with detailed information on the following topics:

• The role of the security guard
• Legal powers and limitations
• Emergency situations
• Communications and public relations
• Access control
• Ethics and Conduct
• Incident command system
• Terrorism

In order to successfully complete the course and to receive the training required certification, the student must satisfactorily pass the examination. The 16 Hour on the job training course for security guards consists of two days of training.
